He punished his son several times with cruelty but when his son Prahlad didn’t accept to worship him, he called her sister Holika who had a cloak that will never burn. She sat on the fire holding Prahlad in her lap but she died and Prahlad survived out of the fire.
Later on, Hiranyakashyap was also killed by the Narsingh Avatar of Lord Vishnu. This shows the triumph of good over evil. The kids must know the story as it has historical as well as moral value.
