Picture books help the children to relate the images with real-world examples and also keeps it interesting. It also cuts down the cost for parents to showcase examples to teach numerals.

#2. Drawing Math Models

Mathematics models are a great way to represent how maths can be helpful in the real world. Maths models include making structure or objects for better understanding. Through models, various mathematical shapes can also be taught to children. This can be done by comparing the shapes around the world. For example, a shape like a triangle can be found in the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt, cylindrical shape on Qutub Minar of Delhi, India, etc.

Like, if you offer corn flakes or peanuts, as a 6-year-old, the diet will still be countable.

Ask your child to count and eat each of the peanuts so they will learn to count. Similarly, money can work as they are rewarded based on any work they perform, like making the bed, room cleaning, pet walking, etc., but they should first count the number of coins they are getting. It will boost their confidence and keep it exciting.

This is a fun activity, parents or teachers have to get involved in this. They have to assist the children in making play cards and teach them numbers. It can be used playfully by calling out numbers, and the kid has to point out the number in play cards.

You can play flashcard races with children, where flashcard numbers with operations are put on the floor. In that, the kids have to add, subtract, multiply, or divide and give answers to move to the next flashcard. These can also be beneficial in teaching mathematical symbols and operations to kids.
