Science experiments are a way to make intricate concepts simpler for everyone. A kid might not understand things they read but, they will remember things they see for a long time. Thus, it becomes vital for kids to experiment. Here is a list of science activities for kids.

Science Activities for 5 to 7 Years Old Kids

The activities mentioned in the list are easy-to-do science activities for 5 to 7 years old kids. They are:

Homemade Butter

You might buy butter from the nearby grocery store but, your kid can make it at home with some simple steps. All the materials required are easy to find. You can use that butter for various purposes. It is one of the tastiest science activities for kids.

Material Required

  • You need fresh cream.
  • Take a jar according to the cream you have taken (Don’t overfill the jar).

Steps to Prepare

  • First of all, fill the cream in the jar. As mentioned earlier, don’t try to adjust cream more than its capacity. Try to fill half of it.
  • Lock the jar. Then shake and shake it until you no more hear the sound of liquid splashing the walls. Now, the cream is thick.
  • Open the lid and let the kids take a spoon of the material inside. It tastes like whipped cream. Don’t stop. Lock the lid and shake it again.
  • Soon, you will again hear the splashing sound. Don’t get confused. It is the buttermilk. It will soon get separated from the butter as it condenses in the jar.
  • Shake the jar more to let the butter get a texture of solid mass.
  • Collect the buttermilk in a separate container.
  • Take out the butter from the jar and carefully knit it while washing from cold water. The cold water will also remove the remaining buttermilk from it.

Your butter is ready to use. You can use this butter in making cookies, spreading on bread, and other purposes.

Precautions

Every science activity for kids requires some precautions. Precautions to take in this activity are:

  • Make sure you close the lid of the jar tightly. Otherwise, cream might leak and spill on the ground.
  • Make sure to remove the last of buttermilk to avoid rancidity.

Pepper Panic

You might have seen humans panicking over different situations, but in this activity, pepper will panic. It is one of the most fun science activities for 5 years old kids. You can easily find the required materials at home.

Materials Required

  • Take a bowl ( don’t take a large bowl, try to take a medium-sized one).
  • Take pepper sprinklers ( optional) with pepper in them.
  • Take water.
  • Take a cotton swab.
  • Any dish soap ( Liquid)

Steps to Perform the Activity

  • First of all, fill the water in the bowl. The level of water is up to you.
  • Now, using a sprinkler, sprinkle pepper on the water. A thin layer of pepper forms on the water surface.
  • Take the cotton swab and dip its one end in the dish soap.
  • Now, dip the same end in the pepper sprinkled water.
  • Look carefully at the pepper.

You will see that when you dip the cotton end in the water, the pepper spreads. It happens because the pepper forms a thin layer on the water surface because of the surface tension of water. As soon as the soap dish enters the water body, it breaks the surface tension causing panic in the pepper.

Precautions

There is no such vital precaution. Make sure that you don’t create a mess with water.

These are the two science activities for kids that are easy and fun.

Conclusion

There are tons of science activities for 5 to 7 years old kids. But the activities mentioned in this article are simple. Kids can perform them without your help. You can provide them with materials and let them enjoy their science time. They will learn concepts and acquire skills through these science activities for kids.
