The Real School Of Montessori National Public Speaking Competition: Shape the Youth

With the world developing at such a fast rate, the competition between the youth has increased. Many people nowadays are unemployed because they are too basic. This may not be their fault but they definitely have not adapted to the changing times. To work in the best of companies, a simple degree today is not enough. One must be creative and multi-talented in order to succeed in this fast-paced world.

Public Speaking is one such art-form that can help one stand out from the crowd. Public speaking is never an easy task. To be able to move people with mere words requires a lot of practice and a lot of skill. If someone has been trained from their youth, they surely can develop great skills in public speaking.

Why Children Should Participate

You may wonder why a child should participate. The answer is simple. Exposure. Exposure to such a huge competition will help them. Many kids have fear of speaking in public at a young age and this can become a problem later on. A competition at such a huge level will allow them to overcome any fears they possess.

Children can also explore new career lines. The world of being a doctor and engineer is now full and it is time to look for new career lines. Public speaking as a career line is the need of the hour as certain changes need to take place in the way humans live.

Public speaking will also allow the child to learn better means of communication. Communicating with people is very important for children and they get to learn through platforms that bring together various other children. Plus, there is a cash prize for the competition, which can act as an incentive to many!

Who Can Compete?

There are two age categories for children here. The first category is the orator for children of age 7 to 10.

The next category is the Flamboyance this for children aged 11 to 15.

Depending on the age of the child, they will be divided into various groups. The competition and the results will be separate for both of the groups.

Competition Round

The competition has three rounds in total. Round 1 is presidential speech, round 2 is a panel discussion and round 3 is a debate round.

In round 1 there is space for 1000 applicants. These applicants need to submit a video of themselves talking on one of the topics for round 1.

The child can choose any topic as they wish to. There are no restrictions on this round. This round is essentially the filtering round. Only the best will get through to the next rounds.

Topics for Round 1

Since the competitions are not the same, the topics for both the age groups differ too.

For the Orator Category, the topics are:

  • This is 2177. You are the Chairman of the biggest company in the world? Give the keynote address to launch your new path-breaking product/service.
  • You’re retiring today with a fortune of 1 Billion dollars. Give your farewell speech.
  • You are invited to speak on graduation day at your school? Address the students.
  • One Individual is selected for a Voyage to Mars from each country? Make a case why should you be chosen from India.

For the Flamboyance Category, the topics are:

  • Schools now have a parliament and cabinet where parents, teachers and students can contest elections for all posts. You are standing for the president. Make your election speech?
  • This is 2177. You are the Chairman of the biggest company in the world? Give the keynote address to launch your new path-breaking product/service.
  • One teenager has been selected for a Voyage to Mars from each country? Make a case why should you be chosen from India.

Second Round

In the second round of the competition, the total candidates come down from 1000 to a mere 20. Yes, the drop is huge and only the best and most talented go through.

This will teach the young children to work under pressure and they will also learn how to put their best foot forward when the situation arises.

The next round is the final round.

Third Round

The third and the final round is where it all matters. The final 4, after defeating 996 other children fight it out in a classic debate.

This debate is to test the argumentative skills of a child. They may not possess any skill in that field yet, but this is the perfect opportunity for them to develop skills and also liking into the field of public speaking.

Mark Your Calendars

The application process starts from December 1 and the final round 1 entries close on the 31st of December.

The round 1 results will be declared on the 16th of January 2021. Round 2 and the results will occur on 23rd January 2021.

The finale and the results for the finale will occur on the 23rd of January 2021. So make sure you have written these dates down.

More Information

The prize rewards for each category are the same.

  • The prize for the Winner of the competition is INR 1 Lakh.
  • The second runner up of the competition wins INR 50,000.
  • The top 20 candidates get INR 6000 each.
  • A special pass of INR 1000 with RealSchool to all impressive entries.
