Things Needed for a Cereal-Box Guitar

Don’t be surprised to see these lengthy items, as all of them are easily available at home.

  1. Cereal box
  2. Utility knife
  3. Rubber bands
  4. Ruler
  5. Markers
  6. Tape (you can choose any type you want – transparent or coloured)
  7. Kraft paper
  8. Decorative paper or gift wrap
  9. Cardboard tube from a dry cleaner hanger, cut into two-inches
  10. Paper-towel tube.
  11. Scissors
  12. Glue

Steps to Follow

  1. Remove the cover from the package. Use whatever paper you choose to cover the box, lid, and paper-towel tube.
  2. Place the tube on a table, with one end against the box’s short side and the other along the bottom corner.
  3. Make a circle around the tube with your finger. Draw four lines across the circular (as if cutting a pie), then cut along the lines and through the box using a utility knife.
  4. Push the tube through the encased hole until it reaches the box’s opposite end, then tape it shut.
  5. Place the lid on the box after cutting an oval in the centre of it.
  6. Wrap 6 rubber bands around the box in a lengthwise direction.
  7. Under the rubber bands above and below the oval, slide the two dry-cleaner–tube sections (decorated with tape or paper, if desired).
  8. To keep everything together, use glue.
  9. The “strings” will be able to twang as a result of this. (Cut chopsticks could also be used.)

2. A Simple and Cool Open Guitar Using Minimal Products

Wondering how to make a guitar for kids using minimum products? These guitars are easy handmade instruments to build and will provide hours of entertainment for youngsters! When stroked, the elastic bands produce a sound comparable to that of a guitar, a twanging sound, which adds to the realism of playing with them. Even though only a few items are used, these guitars will look classy and elegant.

Things Required

  1. An empty cardboard box ( we don’t need its lid for this guitar)
  2. Masking tape
  3. Cardboard Tube
  4. Elastic Bands
  5. Scissors
  6. Paint, stickers, and pompoms can all be used to adorn the instrument.

Steps to Follow

  1. From one end of the box, draw around and cut out the bottom of the cardboard tube.
  2. Make small diagonal slits (also teach them the difference between horizontal and vertical lines) into one end of the cardboard tube.
  3. These slits will be opened later to aid in the application of masking tape to the box.
  4. Push the tube through the hole of the box and use masking tape. Make sure to secure the cut portions of your box.
  5. Wrap the elastic bands around the box, squeezing the centre and shaping it into a guitar shape. Now listen to the sound of the vibrations made by the rubber bands.

Paint their favourite cartoon figure or whatever artwork they want on the interior of the box to make it seem like a genuine guitar. You can also trace around a tiny plate to form a circle on the inside of the box to make it look like a real instrument. After the paint had dried, you could apply stickers and attach pom poms to the cardboard roll.

3. DIY Cardboard Guitar

Cardboards are plenty available at home. This DIY guitar creativity may take some. But in the end, you will get a beautiful cardboard guitar.

Things required

  1. Cardboard box
  2. Glue
  3. Cardboard tube
  4. Cardboard roll
  5. Rubber bands

Steps to Follow

  1. Take cardboard. Cutaway most of the top flaps of a smaller cardboard box, leaving enough material to glue on a guitar-shaped exterior with a hole on top.
  2. Then, for the neck, push a cardboard tube (usually from a wrapping paper roll) into the top of the box.
  3. Keep in mind that a round hole for the tube should not be carved. Rather, you cut an “x” and push the flaps of the X together to make a collar, which you then glue to bind the roll to it.
  4. Allow the neck/cardboard roll to extend into the guitar’s body for support.
  5. Then cut short holes in the top and bottom of the guitar-shaped portion so that rubber bands could be looped around them for strings.
  6. Under the stress of those strong strings/rubber bands, the cardboard may fold and/or buckle. As a result, ensure that the cardboard flutes are horizontal to the strings.
  7. The guitar’s head can just be a piece of cardboard cut to form and inserted into the flattened end of the neck/cardboard roll.
